"Art as an elective", you say?
This may not sound like the compliment it is, but bear with me.
I have been associated with a design faculty that has some international recognition for soon a decade now, not as a teacher, but assistant and guide. In that time I have seen almost a thousand students enter who could not possibly match your current work - and almost all of them leave three years later no better than they came, or worse.
There is much room for improvement if you want to make visual arts a bigger part of your life. But you are far better than you give yourself credit for, and let nobody tell you otherwise.
